Day 28- Physiology Presentation and Cultural performance preparation

Today is the last monday in Wuhan :( Time passes so fast..

Woke up at about 8 plus and at about 10 plus, YF, Geena and I did our project. After a while, I went with Melissa to da-bao for them lunch. I ate this something like pita bread with lots of filling inside (fatty pork, spring onion, egg and sausage). Actually, it was quite nice but after a while, it tastes really salty.

We had our presentation in class at 1pm and my group was the 4th group to present.

After presentation, some of them went back to the dorm while some of us stayed behind. As for me, I went to find my good friend, food :) Yes, I bought a piece of cake from the bakery and it's nice! :) Hahaha..

At about 4pm, we started to prepare for the performance and I was a bit bored because I was not in the dance team (they were practising really hard). After a while, I helped Letty write her chinese script (No, I did not think of the words. I just copied on foolscape whatever Letty wrote on the whiteboard) It's been ages since I wrote chinese characters.

At about 7 plus, we left the classroom and Rani and Hana helped me da bao pi dan porridge and fried dumplings! :) Yay!

The next food I'm gonna try is the waffle!! Muahaha..

Day 26- Journey to Wudang Mountain

Today, we set off for Wudang Mountain! Some of us slept while some did not.. I slept at 2am (because of the online shopping thing) and woke up at 5 plus because we have to gather at 6.45am. The surprising thing is that at 6.40am, when YF, Carol and I opened the door, Kimberley (our neighbour opp) opened her door and said: "We just woke up!" My mouth was wide open. Hahaha.. My gosh! They are going to be fined like pretty badly :( Then, next to Kimberley's room is Rani and Hana's room. Guess what? They opened their door too and said they just woke up too! What's wrong with them today? Hahaha..

So end up, YF and I were the first LSCT students to arrive. Surprised. I thought the others would be earlier than us. Anyway, Melissa, Kimberley and Letty were the last to arrive and we set off at about 7.10am.

Bus ride was about 5 hours long so most of us slept throughout the journey. But on the way, they showed Home Alone 2 on the bus :D Yay! It's been so long since I last watched it because the tape at home has gone mouldy :( The show is still as funny as ever :)

Finally, we reached the place to have our lunch.. and then when we wanted to use the toilet, we found out that the toilet has no door! And, the cubicle walls are so short! So there were 4 of us: YF, Geena, Joanna (MDE girl) and I. So we have to like 1,2,3 up; 1,2,3 down. HAHAHA!! It's such an experience! :)

A big sword just outside the place we had our lunch.

After lunch, we had to visit the temples. Which means that we have to take a bus up the winding road to 3 different stops. I was so worried I would get motion sickness

Whoa! The technology not bad! We have to use our thumbprint to pass through the gantry. The ticket we hold is identified with our thumbprint. How cool is that?

This is inside the bus. Realised that the people seated at the front are facing each other? The journey must had been a roller coaster ride for them. Hehe

Halfway through the journey up, the bus almost crashed into another bus going the opposite direction. The bus drivers were driving so fast and because of the turning, they probably didn't see the other bus. Because the bus came so close to the other bus, almost everyone in the bus screamed for their lives! Haha.. So amusing!

Finally, we reached the first stop and we had to climb up flights of stairs. (this was just a preparation for Wudang Mountain the next day)

Look! It's a praying mantis!

A very long earthworm!

The scenery on the way

After all the stops, it's time to have dinner and after that, we checked into our hotel rooms. Soon after, some of us went to the nearby supermarket with Mr Chia and some of the MDE students.
I know, the wall is pretty cool :) But this is the first hotel room I've been where there's no cupboard. haha

My bed is the one on the left

Yes, the bathroom wall is a frosted glass

I love the shower head. This always reminds me of Big House.

We found gold! (toilet bowl)
Reflection
We visited a lot of temples today and one thing I've learnt is that before you step into a temple, there is always this "extra step" and we have to step over it not on it to show respect. And what I heard from my friends is that we have to step over it because when you do that, your head tends to be facing down because you need to watch your step and hence, when you're looking down, you look like you are bowing to the idols.
The temples we visited today are really old yet it's well kept. And I've learnt about the many different ways people do/use to represent something. For example, the love lock can represent family or a couple always together (you can engrave your name on it), or throwing coins at a drum can represent family love. These are some ways people do which they think can help them. It's interesting to find out more!

Day 25- Quiz 3 and Shopping

We had Quiz 3 today.. Which means that we spent less than half an hour in the classroom. After quiz, I fell asleep on my bed because I was so tired. Sorry YF and Geena.. Felt paiseh that I was sleeping while they were doing the project.

For lunch, I had century egg porridge, dou pi (some sort of glutinous rice with tou fu and the top part is grinded beans so it's like a harder layer on the top), 1 fried dumpling (took 1 from Geena) and tried a bit of YF's chao he fen (Char quay tiao). All of them are very nice!! I think it's actually one of the best lunches I had so far. The texture of the porridge is so different yet nice! :D

Right after lunch, Geena, YF, Cindy and I went to the shopping mall that we went previously (for the 3rd time) to buy shoes and some other stuffs. I'm so happy I bought a pair of Vans shoes for 120 yuan!! It's real! Don't know why they can sell it at such a cheap price.. but the shoes are actually quite small because they don't have a bigger size :( soo.. I hope that after subsequent wears, the shoes will kinda expand? I'm going to wear it more often! Anyway, if Da-jie likes it too, she can wear it :) I'm sure she can fit too.

After that went to buy more stuff and bought something for Kor (finally).. Hahaha.. Hope he likes it.

Below are the photos of my new shoes!
The shoe box which I'm going to throw away :(

My newly bought shoes! :D

Yeah, so after we came back from shopping, we continued with online shopping. Not bad, right?
Then I showered and washed clothes followed by da-bao-ing from the canteen. I ate char siew rice which was pretty good. The goose rice I ate yesterday was nice too! :D Yummy!
After dinner at 7pm, we had our cultural exchange performance preparation. And I'm glad I picked Hana as Eddy's friend because she such a born actress! Hahaha.. I think the skit will be really funny with YF acting as taxi driver too! :) Hope the china students can understand the singlish..
After that, packed bag for wudang mountain tomorrow.. Yes, will be leaving at 6.45am for wudang mountain (where the karate kid acted!), staying there for 1 night and I'm kinda excited about the climbing on sunday but not the visits to the temples tomorrow :(

Reflection
After taking taxis quite a few times, I'm quite familar with the roads now but still not sure sometimes. As we were taking the taxi today, I find it really hard to catch the Wuhan accent when the taxi driver talked to us. I guess it's the same when people come to Singapore and finds it hard to understand Singlish. Every country do have this unique thing about their slang, terms that they use, etc. It's really interesting to find out more about this.
I was quite shocked today at the fact that some stores in the shopping mall can sell real branded shoes at a much cheaper price! I seldom see this in Singapore. Even if so, the price may not be as cheap or the goods are an imitation. If only Singapore have such things too, many of us will be extremely elated!

Day 24- Jas Min's Birthday!!!

On this very day, at 12am, we (BMS and some MBio people) went knocking on Jas Min's door and SURPRISE!!! There we were, crowding around the door with YF holding the birthday cake. And the rest of us sang the birthday song! :D

My gosh! It was soooo fun! Hehehe.. We ate the cake in Jas Min's room and the cake was loaded with lots of cream... and because of that, there goes the exciting part...

YF got smashed with cream by Hana!! And YF just smashed cream back at Hana! The fun has just begun :) Muahahaha.. and what was I doing? I was distributing popcorn to the others to eat as they enjoy the show. I even had sweet or salty ones :)

Then, Hana got hold *ahem* of the plate where the birthday cake was previously on (that's where there were lots of cream) and she hid in my bathroom (also YF's bathroom) with the plate :) so, when YF went back inside the room, she got the shock of her life! (at this point of time, everyone one was taking pics except for me because I was eating popcorn :) enjoying the hilarious show! ) And because of the sudden surge of adrenaline, (it's either fight or flight!) she dashed out of the room without her slippers! :O Hello girl! You know what's the temp or not?? The floor is soo cold! It's amazing. She experienced time slow down so that her mind can think fast. So, she ran to Faith's room (which is at level 1) to hide. Hahaha.. And Hana? Of course chased after her lah! But she didn't manage to go inside Faith's room.. End of Part I

Part II: Hana squats down beside Faith's room door, ready for attack. And me? I wouldn't want to leave the rest out of this exciting show so I ran back up to 2nd floor and told everyone Part II has just begun! (Btw, when everyone saw me, don't know why, they all hide inside their rooms as if I was a ghost -.-)

So, while I was telling the rest that YF is hiding in Faith's room, Geena and Cindy (who were downstairs) came up and told us that Hana accidentally smashed the cream on Faith's feet instead because she thought Faith was YF. Hahaha.. poor Faith.

Because Hana got fed up waiting for YF, she decided to retreat. Man! There goes the show already :( So, because YF is still stuck in Faith's room and she didn't know that Hana has gone back, I have to fetch her back to our room -.- She was sooooo scared! When I opened the door, she was holding the shower head, ready for attack! And when she walked back to our room, her hands were shaking! Hahaha.. Now I know what can scare her! End of Part II

Woke up at about 9 plus today to study for quiz tomorrow.

I didn't share my lunch with Geena today because I'm having a sore throat.. don't wanna pass it to her. Anyway lunch was quite nice because the noodles were handmade.

Part III: All of us had prepared a birthday card for Jas Min. She went to the provision shop downstairs to buy things and so we put the card in between the bars on the gate. All of us were hiding in our rooms.. Hehe :)
And what a surprise!

There she is with the birthday card!
On the side note, don't know why today keep knocking on/ hitting/ scratching against the furnitures. But thanks to Dr Letty, and all her antiseptic creams and solutions, my wound was cleaned :D
Look! She made a big plaster out of 3 plasters! How interesting!

I pronounce you guilty for causing a wound on Sarah's leg and a possibility of infecting the wound with your rust!

Reflection
Today is one of the most fun days in Wuhan :D I'm sure after the 24 days together, we had definitely grown much stronger and united. It has been really fun all along with Dr Lau as well and these had been unforgettable memories.

Day 23- Physiology lesson

We had our first Physiology lesson with Mr Imran today. Class was pretty quiet.

Anyway, after the morning lesson, on the way out for lunch, we saw this dog! We thought it was a statue! Haha.. Because it was so still until Jas Min went nearer to it.

So, we da bao-ed back fried rice and I shared with my awesome food sharer-- Geena! :D

Then, there was afternoon Physiology lesson where all of us were super sleepy!!

After lesson, I did laundry while YF was sleeping. Then, at about 5pm, YF went for a run with the MDE teacher and some others while Geena and I spent some time doing the project and sleep! Hehehe.. That's when I found out Geena is a heavy sleeper!!! Haha..

So, after YF came back, YF and Geena went to buy back dinner for me and some others. Thank you!

The exciting part is yet to come....

Day 22- Physiology lesson and Farewell Dr Lau!

We had our last Physiology lesson with Dr Lau today :( But he didn't really teach.. just showed us a video as an introduction to the next lecture on the urinary system.

After Physiology lesson, some of us had cup noodles for lunch. Yes, cup noodle party in Kimberley, Melissa and Letty's room again. Haha..

At about 4pm, we gathered together to walk around with Dr Lau and Mr Imran. We entered this bookstore that sells all those chinese assessment books which reminds me my secondary school days. It used to be a torture for me :P Those days are long gone :)

After the shopping, we headed back to the classroom because the Greenery cafe was too full. So we would go back there again at about 7.30pm.

At the meantime, we discussed about our cultural performance in the classroom. And while we were discussing, there were fireworks! But definitely not those extravagant ones because I think it's not such a big shot one.

Finally, at about 7.10pm, the restaurant called Dr Lau and said that we can go to the restaurant now because there are enough seats for 22 people :)

This is my dinner :) It's a children's set meal that comes with ice-cream.
Look! This is my smiley face potato! Cute or not? Hahaha..
Mango ice-cream and red bean at the bottom
Some of us had some leftovers and I had this crazy idea in mind. I mixed my red bean with spring onions, curry, and tomato ketchup. Then, Hana, Kimberley, Letty, Rani and I played open numbers. And whoever was the last person had to taste it! (Btw, Rani and I were forced to play this game)
And guess what? Hana was the loser and she had to taste it in the end. And because Letty couldn't finish her pizza, we dipped the crust in the mixture and forced her to eat the whole thing! But in the end she couldn't take it so she just spitted out everything. Hahaha.. Who ask her to come out with the idea.. Muahaha..
After that, Kimberley wanted more spice! So she mixed the mixture with Hana's leftover spicy and sour soup with rice grains and her melted mango ice-cream.
All of us voted for Kimberley to taste it this time round because she said that between truth or dare, she would choose dare. Muahahaha...

Don't be fooled by Kimberley's sweet and innocent face! Hahaha.. She can come out with all sorts of weird, funny and sometimes sick ideas.
Oh no! She's disgusted by the mixture!

Yes, all the way, Kimberley! You're almost there!

Yay! The spoon is in your mouth! You did it! :D

On the way back, we were having sooo much fun talking to Dr Lau and scaring people especially when we reached the school compound where it was really dark. Hehehe.. I think I laughed so hard (in the cold air) until I almost had to use my inhaler.
When we reached the dorm, we took quite a number of pictures with Dr Lau. And all of us said our last goodbye to him, in Wuhan. See you again in Singapore, Dr Lau!
Reflection
All of us felt really sad when Dr Lau had to leave us. But the thought that we would see him again at Changi Airport on the 17th Oct is comforting :) I've written whatever I want to say on the book given to him to meditate on the aeroplane, so I shall not write it here. On the side note, I hope we'll be able to adapt to Mr Imran's style of teaching and continue to enjoy the rest of the trip although Dr Lau won't be here with us in Wuhan.

Day 21- Physiology Quiz + lesson and Shopping!

Physiology quiz this morning and after quiz, we continued with lecture.

After lecture is Shopping!!! :D Yay!

But the bus ride there was awfully, horrible!!! My goodness! It was soooooo crammed!! It's so much worse than a peak period in the MRT at raffles place or somewhere around there!!! Serious. All of our positions were so awkward!! And the China people would just board the bus by the 'back door' after paying their fare at the front of the bus. How shocking! I guess it's worse in India though..

Oh, and when we got down, I was like asking the rest, What is your position??? Everyone's position was so funny and all of us were so relieved when we alighted the bus. HAHAHA!! And Eddy said he was sexually violated.Hehehe..Oh yes, I'll remember the lock and key enzyme theory better, Hana :)

Recently, we saw many of these balloons on the streets. Look! This guy is the winner sia! He has the most number of balloons!

And this was my lunch :) Yummy dim sum and some egg tarts with fried dumpling and pineapple something.

My dinner!!! Fruit Pizza! They don't sell this in Singapore

This is the counter. And that big brown thing is where they cook their delicious pizza!

This is the foodcourt where we ate for lunch

This is the entire counter

I call this a "crackers machine". We saw this outside our school. The long thing the guy is pulling out is actually a cracker! Quite cool, right?
Reflection
Today's bus ride is the most unforgettable bus ride ever! I've never been in such a packed bus before! But I was really surprised when the locals would just squeeze their way through the crowd. This is something we would never see in Singapore so this had been a really interesting experience. I wonder why it is like this in China. Is it just their way of life? Or is it because there're so many people in China, and it has been a norm to be in such packed places? It's a totally different way of life here in Wuhan as compared to Singapore.
